Christian minimalism

This concept can be a little overwhelming to some but it really does not have to be. In all honesty, it the part of the point of minimizing. To get rid of; downsize.

I have now become a Christian Minimalist. But I was not always this way or thought about possessions like I do now.

You are going to learn how to reshape your home in the site of the practices of Christian minimalism.

This post is all about Christian minimalism.

Practical Ways To Christian Minimalism:

First, we need to describe what a Christian minimalist is in compared to an average minimalist. A minimalist is someone who is content with living with less. This type of person does not focus on possession as they do with experiences. Similarly to a Christian minimalist in addition to living to Glorify God and not wrapped up in materials.

1. Die To Self

One of the first ways to practically live the lifestyle of a Christian minimalist is to die to self. What in the world does that even mean? Let me explain. Matthew 16:24 reads, “Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” In other words, we have to trust Jesus as we grow in spiritual maturity and trust his plans our better than our own.

Die to self and our own desires to be in control of our lives but to give it to God. A way to practice Christian minimalism is to die to self. How can you do this? Another question I assume you would be asking.. lol. Be prayerful in everything. When praying invite God in what you are doing, ask for provision, and that His Will be done.

2. Stewardship

Now when it comes to your home, stewardship is everything. Stewardship falls into numerous categories not just financial stewardship. Each day we have an opportunity to steward our lives well. It is by God’s grace that we steward the gifts he has given us. Think about it! How are you stewarding your time? Your health? How do you steward your relationships? Of course, you can ask how do you steward finances?

Believing that everything in this world is the Lord then, we should take care of it. For me, I wanted to find value and purpose with items in my home. To keep them clean and of good quality. To be well taken care of. To live within your means and not overspend is a practice worth trying to bring peace rather than stress.

3. Less of The World More Of Him

This world is FULL of distractions that keep us away from pursuing Jesus. It is at most important to make God #1 in your life. In my personal opinion, because we have access to basically everything we can imagine at our fingertips we can easily be persuaded to happiness of ideals and many other things. It is incredibly easy to scroll for hours on social media and spend more time hearing the words of many influencers than the words of Jesus. Not that influencers don’t have value but we (including myself here) can be consumed with so much information that we loose site of our main purpose. Which is to Love God with all your heart (Matthew 22: 37-40).

4. Habit of Clutter Free

Have you ever gone into someones house and felt overwhelmed? I have! Creating a simple home is all about living clutter-free. Don’t worry it may seem like a really hard task to live clutter-free. You will always read when I write to take decluttering your home just ONE step at a time. Or in reality one drawer ;). If you have lot of things or have lived in the same place for many years, stuff can easily be accumulated in your home.

Living clutter free allows for you to value your possession in your home. This creates a better environment for everyone in the home and for your mental capacity.

5. Give

Now you might be assuming I am going to talk about money. However, my main point is not just about money but in other things. A big way to be a giver is in time. Be present with people. Be avaible to .

Giving yes your time. Make yourself available to other people. Being a minimalist it so living slower and intentionally.

6. All about people

The road to minimalism is all about decluttering and simplifying home and many areas of your life so that you can prioritize the most important things. DRUM ROLL… Christian minimalism is all about God’s design for us. We are to love him and love his people (Matthew 22). When we prioritize our home we are able to focus on relationships.

A few years back, my husband and I would often host our friend’s birthday parties and small gatherings in our home. I love hosting people. These times capture sweet memories. However, more times than not instead of joining the party I felt like being a “good host” was to keep everything in order during the party. I had to clean up the kitchen right away and make sure everything was in so-called perfect order.

Once we began minimizing our home I realized hosting become so much easier because the mess was so Even if you don’t label yourself as a minimalist. These practices will be great habits to live the lifestyle you desire.

The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.”
