Already it is time for back to school. It always feels like summer vacation just started. Now it is time to back to the swing of things. When life gets busy again is it essential to be in order for your kids(mostly you) to function well.

If anything, pray for your child(children). Prayer is the best thing we can do for them and on thier behalf. We are not able to control all the things they see and hear from peers but we can pray for them to make good choices, for protection(pray/read Psalm 91), discernment, and to do the work of the Lord as they go to school. Prepare by going into battle. But on your amour.

Are you sending your child to school or are you a homeschooling parent? Either decision it is essential to be invested in your child’s education and create an organized home. No better way to start this year with back to school organization. The organization tips below are going to give you great idea and inspire you to make the most productive and successful year in regards to time management. Of course, everyone has different schedules and activities especially with multiple children under one roof. Being in order as a parent is helpful for your children to mirror how there mom or dad are. It also relives your child from stress and anxiety when they stick to a routine and know what to expect for the day.
As always it is good to have a plan and be consistent with it. In addition to having a plan, having plan B or being prepared when your day doesn’t go as you might intend. Being organized can help set your school weeks for success because you did the hard work early.
The Best Back To School Organization Tips At Home:
- Prayer. Cover your children in prayer. The biggest suggestion is doing this regularly. It is time to get specific not only to have a good day but to put on the amour of God, to fight the good fight and win because Jesus is with them.(*see subheading above: How To Prep for back to school).
- Daily Routine. Establish a consistent daily routine. You thrive off this and so will your kids. They follow the example they are given. Let your routine be a good one. It cna be good and simple without suffering from burn out.
- Written Planner. Write out your plan rather than making a digital plan. Writing it out helps make your plan be in sight and out of your brain to know what needs to be accomplished.
- Set A Specific Space. Dedicate a specific space for school work. This helps keep eve thing organized in its place and set the tone for the students to be wired that in the is space I do school work. It helps bring familiarity to the brain and be a place to study in an organized environment.
- Extra Supply Station. We run this similar to a toy rotation station in our home. Have a space maybe in a spare closet, on a shelve, or on a rolling kart for extra supplies such as pencils , colors, paper, scissors, etc.
- Organized School Backpack. Even if you homeschool have a prepared back each days after they come home from school. This will help set the next school day for success for a clean an organized space. Have items organized like a pencil bag, water bottle, a folder for loose papers, and throw in sweet notes of encouragement for your child.
- Prepare Lunch Meals List. Preparing meals in advance and be such a time saver. Have a list written out for delicious meal ideas that your children will love. This way you’re prepared without having to stress about making lunch.
- School Organizer Binder. Having a school organizer binder is essential for home school moms but also for mothers you send there kids to school too. You might be asking, “What do you put in the binder?” Put school calendar, lesson plans, grading resources, and useful tools for your children and you as a teacher to have.
- Clean Out Closest. Back to school organization has everything to do with routine and preparing a good morning for your child and what something you do every morning? That’s right. You get dressed. I have several memories as a kid cleaning out my closet of clothes that no longer fit and giving them away. This made the perfect time for organize and start the school year strong with a mm organized space. The reward was for us kids to get a few new shirts or jeans that fit for the begging of the school year.
- Use Labels. Labels help make everything organized and all your home students will be able to find what they need and so will you. This systems helps to keep things organized too.
- Color Coordinate. Color coordinating is extremely helpful to the eye. Even my toddler can be used in keeping this organized by putting books back with the correct color location. It’s a bonus that it looks aesthetic too.
- Toy Rotation(Educational Style). It’s not just play all day but intentional educational toys. Kids love to learn as they play. Do make learning fun. I have seen posts about morning buckets for each day of the week. Some of these busy buckets are great to have organized at the beginning of the week. Especially, if you are teaching older ones. The you get ones can play with the busy buckets and allow time for you to focus with the one on one with your older kids.
- Schedule Office Times For Mom. Moms need to schedule time in the week for office hours. The is neccessary for back to school organization for working moms and stay at home moms.
- Wall Organization. Utilize the wall to organize school supplies. Utilizing floating shelves, wired hanging frames can eliminate clutter in spaces. I love hang things such as my meal planning list of the week, lunch list ideas, chores list ideas, etc.
- Prepare Reward Systems. Of course, all of use have an incentive to to things well and faster when we have a reward. Maybe once a week you have special something for the kids or a special family field trip if they accomplish something. Have big and small rewards are fun for you and the kids to focus to move toward a goal and accomplish great things.
- File Paperwork Systems. This is one of the most procrastinating things I do in my home. Thankfully, most things can be stored digitally with can eliminated wasted space with extra paper work. Creating a useful filing system and and make an effort to discard no longer needed paperwork by organizing twice a year.
- Prepare Freezer Meals. This is an all time favorite of the back to school organization tips. There will be days when you just done have the time, you get sick, you have a newborn, so many things could come up. Having a few crockpot freezer meals or even quick meals to heat up in the oven to save the day.
- Eliminate Clutter Spaces. Have a trash can near. Yes, this is so simple. Scrap papers from crafts and plan to have clear tables. Your environment can not be too distracting so that children can focus.
- Prepare Back Up Plans. Of course, days might not go as planned. Having a back up plan when you need to make quick dinner, or adjust when there is a sick kids, or a rainy day when you were supposed to go outside. Be some what prepared for back up plans by writing a list of fun “rainy day” activities for your kids.
- Family Command Center. This is a central hub when you need anything. You need to organize your files, extra supplies, printer, wall calendar meals lists, etc. This is basically moms office.
- Checklists. Great a list of the things on your agenda. But to ensure productive, circle three things on your to do list that will make sure they will get done by the end of the day. The way you won’t get overhwlmed by looking at all the things you have to do.
- Homework Station.This can be as simple as a caddy with stickers as a reward. Make it simple for your kids to come home and do a little bit of school work then get to play.
- Chore List. Helps with expectations for the week.
- Establish A Rest Day. A proper sabbath to have a full day of rest. Saturdays are sabbaths in our house. Sabbath looks different for everyone so be grace in the way you sabbath even if it doesn’t look the same as it does for other people.
