Why on earth should we learn how to clean house fast and efficiently? It is simple, to spend more time enjoying things we actually want to be doing. This post will explain efficient ways to clean your home in a flash.

Maintaining a Clean Home
Maintaining a clean home is satisfying, helps reduce stress, and the best part is that it saves you time when you clean your house quickly. Not only are these incredibly beneficial perks, but your mind and health also depend on the cleanliness of your home. Think about it—no one wants to live in complete chaos. When we manage to maintain a clean home environment, we can enjoy a peaceful and calming space for the entire family.
It’s even better when you are disciplined about maintaining your home effectively, allowing you to spend more time doing activities you enjoy rather than dedicating an entire day of your weekend to cleaning.
This post is all about sharing effective tips and techniques for fast cleaning.
Preparing for Efficient Cleaning
Step one is to gather all your supplies. To clean your house quickly, being prepared is essential. This preparation will help reduce the time wasted running around the house to get cleaning supplies.
Gather all your supplies in an efficient way. One method could be using a rolling cart to transport items from room to room, or a simple shower caddy for convenient storage.
Items to include are:
- Multi-surface cleaner
- Microfiber towels
- White cleaning sponge
- Paper towels
- Cleaning gloves
- Spray bottles (one filled with water and one filled with distilled white vinegar)
- Small bucket of baking soda for cleaning
In addition to the items that fit in your cleaning caddy, keep a broom and vacuum nearby.
Create a Cleaning Schedule
One of the main reasons homes get dirty and stay dirty is the lack of a consistent cleaning routine. Establishing a cleaning routine is crucial as it will save you a significant amount of time. Small cleaning disciplines need to be established to maintain order in the home.
Here’s a list of specific tasks that should be done daily, weekly, and monthly:
Daily Tasks:
- Load/unload the dishwasher
- Clean the countertops
- Empty the kitchen trash each night
- Ensure the kitchen and living room are tidy at the end of the day
Weekly Tasks:
- Mop the floors
- Vacuum (1-3 times a week)
- Clean window surfaces
- Dust surfaces
- Clear out the fridge
- Clean the bathrooms
- Do laundry (some suggest doing laundry every day; it depends on how much you have. If many people live in your home, it’s wise to do laundry 2-3 times a week.)
Monthly Tasks:
- Clean the dishwasher filter
- Deep clean the oven
- Organize cluttered spaces
- Clean light fixtures
- Dispose of paper clutter
- Dust blinds
- Wipe down walls, doors, and cabinets
- Deep clean the coffee maker
- Deep clean kitchen appliances
Weekly Cleaning Schedule Tips:
Set a timer. Now that you have your supplies and a cleaning schedule planned, it’s time to get started. To make the process quick and easy, set a timer. Setting a timer helps you clean your house quickly and efficiently by ensuring complete focus and motivation for a short period. For best results, start with a timer set for 15 minutes. You’ll be surprised by how much you can accomplish in that time frame.
Recommended Time Limits:
Start your timer for a small amount of time. The last thing you want is to try to focus for two hours without taking a mental break, as this can lead to burnout. Your mind works best when you set aside small chunks of time to complete your tasks.
During this time, make it fun and distraction-free. I like to play YouTube videos or one of my favorite podcasts to make the time fly. Once the timer goes off, I place my phone on the charger and switch to Do Not Disturb mode. This way, I can stay focused during the allotted time without distractions.
