What is Success?

Success what does it really mean? It could mean different things to different people. Or we can stand on truth of what success is by digging into written truth. “This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.” -Joshua 1:8.

There was a time in my early twenties when my husband and I moved from a small West Texas town to the busy Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. I thought I had it all together to be successful and thrive in a new city and starting my career. Little did I know, the job I was stepping into was not the job I was marketed. Taking a step back and removing myself from the position I felt like a failure. The plans I had for myself we going down hill.

Anyone else have plans they make and then unexpectedly the plan changes? At this point, it was hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel when it came to a successful career. Fear and doubt crept into my mind as I battled what to do next. I knew I needed to turn to the Word instead of the World! Being successful is not by the amount of wealth, status, title, position, it is only about being obedient to God EVEN when those around us do not. It is about knowing and learning the word, meditating on it, applying it to our lives and living a life for God not our own success and riches.

“So neither the the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.”- 1 Corinthians 3:7.

What can you do in the morning for a successful day?

In the morning giving the first of your fruits to God is a priority. Not to just check it a to-do list. But to be intentional with drawing near to Him. This can simply be by praying, reading the word, mediating on scripture, worship music. etc. Align yourself with Him because he has everything you need. “O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for you; My flesh longs for You.” -Psalm 63:1.

Benefits of Establishing A Morning Routine:

The importance of having a morning routine is how you start and set yourself up well for the remainder of the day. Some say making your bed as soon as you get of bed is one of the best ways to have a feeling of accomplishment each day and can lead to snowball effect completing more tasks in the day.

It is never too late to start being more intentional with your morning routine. Different seasons of life call for adjustment of your daily rhythms. In an encouragement to you is to keep resilience to not to give up even if you don’t follow your routine perfectly(because no one is perfect). The benefits you will see when you are consistent. You will be amazed at the increase in productivity, mental clarity and focus, creating a more positive look your day, promotes physical health, reduces stress and anxiety, and overall your well-being.

How To Create Your Morning Routine For Success:

First step is to write everything down of your current morning routine list. We might not become aware of what we are actually doing until we put in on paper and become more aware of our routines. Grab your notes and write out every single step you take. Yes, even going to the bathroom.

Example Bad Routine(aka don’t do this one):

Alarm goes off. Hit snooze -go back to sleep(repeat step 1 & 2 a couple of times). Alarm goes off again wake up and get out of bed. Use the restroom, brush teeth, wash face, and go to coffee maker. Day dream for about 10 mins or start scrolling on social media. Drink coffee try to pray but your mind wonders. Go to shower, get dressed, put make upon, and grab your second cup of coffee. Out of time and off to work you go.

As you can read, the”bad” routine and also very common routine for most has lots of room for improvement. In all honest, this was my routine when I was in graduate school.

The next step is to identify the habits to stop. First incredibly hard thing to overcome is the battle in my experience is hitting snooze. Anyone else? Words I have been inspired by when prioritizing my day is to know my why and to “pre-decide.” Craig Groeshel shares, “One of my favorite practical habits, is the habit of pre-deciding. I intentionally choose to prioritize first what matters most.

For example, I verbally have to speak out loud each night and say, “I am not hitting snooze in the morning.” Sounds silly. But it actually works. Another very practical way to not hit snooze in the morning is by placing my phone in another room. Physically getting out of my warm and cozy bed in the morning to turn off my alarm( quickly, to not wake the baby). From that moment I pre-decide to not hit snooze and get back out of bed. I am already up and know what I need to do next.

Identify the bad habits, write out all of them on paper. BUT don’t expect to change them all at once. Don’t we all want to perfect a new routine tomorrow? Commit to take one small action and decided(commit to just one of them for 30+ days). Once you effortlessly manage this habit and it is part of your morning routine then add a new one to your routine. Words to the wise don’t add all of them at once or you will fail. Don’t think your day will be bad if your morning is not as perfect as you would like it to be. Your mind is powerful think positively and keep loving forward and so the next thing.

Tips for Morning Routine For Success:

Habit Stacking.

Create habits to be functional. For example, as you get your body moving you can also listen to the Dwell App and soak in the Word of God. Another, is praying as you make your bed in the morning. Look at it as opportunity to not just check off spending time with God but inviting him into every aspect of your life.

Prepare For The Morning: The night before by mastering a good bedtime routine. A helpful tip from The Power To Change is to make your new habit obvious. One idea can to mind from reading that by making it obvious to workout the next morning. Simply preparing you clothes and tennis the night before and your morning snack is a great way to set your morning routine up for success.

First Thoughts. I will seek you in the morning. I will give you the first of my fruits because you are worthy. You are the Lord of my life.”This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.” -Joshua 1:8. Again, be successful in the Lords eyes. If you make him the Lord of your life your actions will follow. Not because you have to earn it is a free gift to be in the presence of the Lord. Incorporate prayer and spending time with God because you want to and want to serve him. These are practical ways to do so.

Spend Time in Prayer: Physically, writing out a short prayer if your mind wonders like mine(I tend to daydream for too long).

Screen Time Limits. Don’t use your phone for the first hour you’re a wake. This has drastically helped me

Coffee Later: Drinking coffee on an empty stop makes me not feel well. It can commonly have poor response to hormonal health and commonly digestive issues. Looking forward to one cup of coffee in the afternoon has been a better shift in habits for my morning. If you feel as if coffee impacts your energy in a negative way then switching to another healthy option is to Mate. Gain a boost of energy and improve mental focus.

Eating Something Within 30 Minutes of Waking: Prepare a small pre-breakfast snack in the morning. Getting up at 5am and not eating till everyone is up at 7:30 doesn’t cut if for my stomach. Nor to have energy for working out and nourishing my body properly. A great way to habit stack here is to eat overnight oats, chia pudding, yogurt and berries or a protein shake.

Ideal Morning Routine For Success:

This morning routine list for success is an example and should be tweaked to your life schedule. I pray these are a great wya for you to be inspired to change your habits and create a successful morning routine.
