Would you consider yourself a clean person? Or are you reading this desperately looking for a way to get out of the mess you find yourself in? Regardless of where you are in the clutter control process. Starting here will get you on the right path.

I have had to create declutter strategy for my own home to be cozy and welcoming. Getting trapped in by clutter can be so overwhelming. You might be one to asked yourself, “Where do I even start?”

This post will teach where to start and how to get set yourself up for success when creating housecleaning rules in your clutter control strategy.

How do you control clutter?

It start’s in the heart. Okay, how could it start in the heart?

Matthew 6:21, “For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.” Here are a few questions to ask yourself:

Do you have so much clutter that it can seem so overwhelming to even be in the room? Are all of the things in the room REALLY your treasure? Would you much rather have your treasures be found else where?

These question are good question to ponder. Mostly because when we work on our hearts in who Jesus has called us to be as followers on him. Then we can get all things in order with his help. Yes, even learning to get clutter under control. If we practice with getting our heart, thoughts, and ideas about the things we have in our homes, then we will value our the things we are gifted with. Especially to be people who take care of the things in the home.

If we start in the heart we can change the perspective we have of clutter and see the things we actually need and do not need in the home. Clutter seems to creep in without you even realizing it. Sometimes it becomes so overwhelming you don’t even know how you got to this point.

What should I remove first when decluttering?

As time goes on you get trapped under clutter and it seems like you have no idea where to start. The first tips for you would be to declutter the most used place in your home. Find the right space for you. Which space has the most chaos?

Bathroom: If you seem too busy and always on the go. You rarely eat at home and are mostly in a rush. The bathroom is a great way to start because it tends to be the messiest for busy beings.

Kitchen: If you’re someone who hosts people over for dinner and social events. The kitchen can be an excellent place to get rid of clutter to make your home more pleasing and beautiful for guests.

Closet/Bedroom: Are you a shopaholic? Always looking for a cute outfit? Maybe you’re someone who doesn’t do laundry as often as you should(guilty). This space is a perfect place to start it and make your environment sparkle.

Office: Do you work from home? Working on a side gig? Decluttering office files is a must to keep in order of the things in the home. Decluttering your space helps keep clarity and focus on the tasks in front of you.

Playroom(s): With young kids it can seem like every room in your house has turned into the play room. Over consumption of toys will quickly allow clutter to be outrageously filled in the home. Get your home back to a peaceful setting by starting in the room(s).

Clutter Control: What Am I Doing Wrong?

Clutter control is 100 percent possible. Yes, clutter control with kids is also 100 percent possible! The clutter control secrets found in this post are only helpful if you discover the do’s and don’ts of managing your home well. Changing the habits you form will change the direction of your life by making small and consistent actions. Well, how do you know how well you are managing your home and the things in the home? What are some things I have done wrong?

Here are some of the bad habits you might from in consuming clutter:

Broken Systems: Either you have attempted to have a system in your home, but now it is not working as well as you planned. You might be thinking what system? If you don’t have system in place then now is the change to get one. Some systems can simply be having a place for everything. Instead of investing in new things, invest in organizing and proper clutter control storage solutions.

Example Systems(tested by Mamma Mia Greens):

Mail Box Bin. In my kitchen I have a mail box bin. For us it was not realiztic to file something as soon as I receive it. However, it bto file letter or bills right when i walk inside. Instead of creating a large clutter pile. create the habit of trashing the things that need to be trashed and boxing the things that need to be filed. Don’t forget to schedule that time or it will become cluttered.

creating the best pantry organization system

Keeping Too Much(obviously):with a world of get this you need that.

Over Scheduling: Scedule time to organze small spaces in your home throughout the week. It can be extremely overwhelming to try and cleanout every part in your home. This will lead to

Not Putting Items Back: This is also me. Unfortenlty i tend to make a huge mess. I blame it on the adhd that i think most of us lol. Practice putting things back right after you use them to help the clutter from piling up. It will also have easier to clean without all he extra junk.

Burnout: you should be the only one cleaning being a busy women but also keeps them all busy and productive. Raising children with good work ethic will be helpful to you and helpful for them.

A Proverbs 31 Woman has a beautiful influence over the home and as part of managing the home through clutter control I can’t help but get excited to share the truth about work for God as a wife and mother.

Hymn to a Good Wife

A good woman is hard to find, and worth far more than diamonds. Her husband trusts her without reserve, and never has reason to regret it. Never spiteful, she treats him generously all her life long. She shops around for the best yarns and cottons, and enjoys knitting and sewing. She’s like a trading ship that sails to faraway place and brings back exotic surprises. She’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast for her family and organizing her day. She looks over a field and buys it, then, with money she’s put aside, plants a garden. First thing in the morning, she dresses for work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started. She senses the worth of her work, is in no hurry to call it quits for the day. She’s skilled in the crafts of home and hearth, diligent in homemaking. She’s quick to assist anyone in need, reaches out to help the poor. She doesn’t worry about her family when it snows; their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear. She makes her own clothing, and dresses in colorful linens and silks. Her husband is greatly respected when he deliberates with the city fathers. She designs gowns and sells them, brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops. Her clothes are well-made and elegant, and she always faces tomorrow with a smile. When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say, and she always says it kindly. She keeps an eye on everyone in her household, and keeps them all busy and productive. Her children respect and bless her; her husband joins in with words of praise: “Many women have done wonderful things, but you’ve outclassed them all!” Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades. The woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God. Give her everything she deserves! Adorn her life with praises! Proverbs 31: 10-31 MSG
